CHAPTER THIRTEEN

WENDY

It’s a weekend, and Elle is out for the night (again), so Fitz and I made plans for him to come over and spend the night here at my dorm.

He suggested for me to go over to his place instead, considering it’s bigger and apparently James is out for the night too, but I told him that if I see that goddamned piano at all this weekend, I’m going to scratch my eyeballs and ears out and then cut off all of my fingers. He’d only texted me a thumbs up emoji in response, but I figured that meant that he got the memo.

It’s around seven P.M. when I hear the knock on my door, and I cringe at how fast I jump up to get it. Being with Fitz is great and all, but no one told me that being in a relationship meant you lost all your cool. I wasn’t very cool to begin with, but now I’m just totally uncool. I mean, seriously, how uncool is it to giggle at my phonescreen and kick my feet every time he texts me? I feel like I’m in middle school all over again. It’s sad and frankly a little pathetic.

Fitz is leaning against the doorway when I open the door, his eyebrows raising and a corner of his lips lifting up into a smirk when he sees me, making me blush. See? Totally fucking uncool.

It doesn’t help that he looks hot as shit right now. His black t-shirt stretches across his broad chest, and it’s tucked into a pair of black jeans, a belt wrapped around his hips, his usual silver rings on his fingers, and a silver necklace around his neck. God, I want that necklace dangling over my face.

What the hell, Wendy?!

I clear my throat, ridding my mind of the extremely inappropriate thoughts plaguing it so that it’s not obvious on my face that I’m mentally undressing him when I look up at him. “Hey.”

He flashes me a smile and pushes off the doorway, one of his hands coming up to cup my face so he can bring it to his. He pecks my lips once, twice, three times, and the softness of his mouth on mine is enough to make me dizzy. “Hi there, pretty girl.”

Holy shit. Why is it so hot in here all of a sudden? I pray to God that my face isn’t as red as I think it is, because the last thing I need is Fitz knowing how much of an effect he has on me—which is a lot.

I gesture for him to come in, which he does, and then I shut the door, leaving us in complete privacy. I don’t know what it is about tonight, considering this obviously isn’t the first time Fitz and I have been in a space alone before, but tonight is just… different.

Maybe it’s because we’re officially together and the possibility of intimacy is completely on the table now, or maybe
